P&ACT Project Old

Prevention and Action through Community engagement and Training (P&ACT) Ending Harmful Practices Partnership is funded by MOPAC. It is a Pan-London specialist Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) partnership of 12 BME 'by and for' services.

P&ACT stands for Prevention and Action through Community engagement and Training. It is the largest BME specialist VAWG partnership in the UK and has successfully provided support to over 700 BME women and children at risk of harm during the pandemic.

Community based advice and advocacy is provided to women in over 18 community languages across the partnership. With over 40 years of experience in the BME specialist VAWG sector, AWRC and partners have pioneering expertise in working with women with multiple disadvantages and complex needs, including no recourse to public funds. The partnership is a part of the Pan London VAWG Consortium and builds on the Ascent Harmful practices strand led by the Asian Women's Resource Centre.

The Partnership provides the following specialist services to women at risk of domestic abuse and harmful practices:

- One to one advocacy for BME women facing DV and harmful practices in 18 languages

- Counselling 

- Community engagement and workshops

- Support groups for young women

- Specialist training for professionals on Harmful practices
